Class Syllabus

FRANKLIN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL

2016-2017

WORLD HISTORY

Steve Sisk

World History is designed to acquaint students with the broad culture/society of which they are apart. By studying historical events and various cultures from around the globe, a student will gain a more diverse understanding of the world we live in, and varying world views.

CLASS EXPECTATIONS

  1. BE PREPARED

Always bring the necessary materials to class (i.e. Chrome Book, paper, pencil/pen, History notebook, homework, etc.).

  1. BE ON TIME

Every minute of class time is important.  Being late is also distracting to other students.  Class starts on time and ends on time.  Tardies will be issued to students who cannot get to class.  Three tardies will result in referral to attendance.

  1. BE RESPECTFUL

Follow the “Golden Rule.” Be respectful of your fellow classmates, your teacher, and the property in the classroom.  Basically, treat others and their things the way you want to be treated, and we will have a great year.  Listen attentively when myself or other students are addressing the class. I promise I’ll give you a chance to ask a question or make a comment. TALKING IN THE CLASSROOM IS A GOOD THING!!!

CLASS RULES

  1. Treat others the way you wanted to be treated, including the teacher.

  2. No food or drink (except water) will be allowed in class.

  3. Do not under any circumstances throw anything in class.

  4. Do not cheat.

  5. All policies of the FCHS handbook will also be strictly adhered to as well.

* Failure to follow the rules will result in detention, ISD, Saturday School, or other punishments outlined in the student handbook.

CLASS SUPPLIES

  1. Pencil/Pen (black only will be accepted on assignments)

  2. COLLEGE RULED Paper

  3. One folder – It will be of great benefit for you to keep your work throughout the chapter.  A majority of your tests will come from the work and notes we take in class.  Part of your daily grade (50%) will come from having a completed History notebook.

ABSENCES

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT TO COME TO ME AND SEE WHAT HE OR SHE MISSED IN CLASS IN THE EVENT OF AN ABSENCE.  In the event of an absence, the student will have 3 days to turn in any make-up work he or she might have missed.  If a student is absent the day of a test, the student will make up the test THE NEXT DAY he or she returns to class. If after 3 days make-up work has not been turned in to me, it will result in a zero or academic detention.

LATE WORK

Work not turned into me when it is due will result in a zero.

GRADING SYSTEM
